Values and Ethics
I abide by a code of ethics set forth by my state board and the American Counseling Association; I also embrace personal ethical values of equity/equality, autonomy/individuality, and resilience/advocacy that influence my practice.
Equity / Equality
I operate from the belief that every human being is equal in status of worth/value and have the same rights to access adequate and appropriate resources that contribute to their health and well-being. Various barriers and challenges prevent this from happening, resulting in inequity/inequality.
Autonomy / Individuality
I operate from the belief that all human beings are born worthy, valuable, and uniquely complex. I also believe that everyone has a right to both experience life and express themselves in a fully genuine, authentic manner that honors their individuality and the unique complexities that accompany it.
Resilience / Advocacy
I operate from the belief that all human beings are born with the inherent strength that allows them to face and overcome challenges that they may face. It is only when support and resources are limited that an individual’s ability to navigate and cope with these challenges are disrupted. I believe it is my role and responsibility to utilize my knowledge, resources, and privilege to provide advocacy and support for the best interests of my clients in alignment with my personally-driven code of honor and all other associated codes of ethics.
